Picture Books – Rochelle Rochelle EP

Have been listening to these tracks now for this band from Chicago and I have to say I am really enjoying it. Picture Books has just released their new EP “Rochelle Rochelle”, which is available for free download via this link. It looks like they just played a post new year’s show with Kid You’ll Move Mountains at the Metro, so hopefully they will have some more shows lined up around Chicagoland here soon. Some interesting instrument combos, and definitely going for the gusto on some of their songs, they have a good sound and clearly a good musical sense. I love how they have some very simple and cool moments in there, but they also aren’t afraid to go full tilt for the stadium rock out in the middle of the song (see the piano into the outro on ‘Out of State, Out of Mind’ below).
