City Light – Burned Out Bright [Mix Tape Monday]

This group from San Francisco is releasing their sophomore release early next year called “Burned Out Bright” and I think this is a pretty solid album that you guys should be on the lookout for next year. They have disparate pop elements mixed in with a lot of electronic and trip-hop elements as well. It blends a lot of indie-rock/pop and more electronic elements a la Postal Service or The Notwist, with a slight emo tinge to it at times. The songs are generally solid from top to bottom and they have achieved a good mix from beginning to end instead of having a few standouts with filler material. This is really a good album and these guys are worth keeping an eye on this upcoming year for sure. This album has just the right mix of intrigue and poppiness that it really works well.
