Lollapalooza 2009 Lineup Announced

Well the lineup for Lollapalooza has now officially dropped a few days early for 2009, and just as the rumors had suggested the lineup is extremely heavy in the middle. Much has been made about the relative weakness of the headliners compared to last years ‘headliner-palooza’, but really once you factor in all of the bands that are listed there below the headliners this is actually shaping up to be a pretty incredible festival. They pretty much have a who’s who of the up and comin indie set with pretty much every indie band that has made any noise the past two years included on the bill.
Of course you have the headliners of Tool and Depeche Mode, the Beasties. But once you browse down and the names start popping off big time. TVOTR, Andrew Bird, Decemberists, AnCo, Arctic Monkeys, Neko Case, Of Montreal, Fleet Foxes, Silversun Pickups, Glasvegas, White Lies, Friendly Fires, Los Campesinos!, PBJ, Deerhunter, Bon Iver!, Lykke!, No Age, Ra Ra Riot, Heartless Bastards, Passion Pit, Hockey. I mean shit even the show-cancellers Crystal Castles are listed on there (for now, until Vegas shows up and steals their FX pedal). Anyway, not sure if my schedule will work out to go again this year but despite there being no Rage, Radiohead or Kanye on the bill, this lineup is actually incredibly solid in the up and comer category, plus you can just dance to some Personal Jesus hammered in the evening if you so desire.
