Well after a full day of partying on Greenville (we got there about 10:30 AM) we managed to survive St. Patrick’s Day long enough to make it to the Granada for actually an incredibly solid one-two punch of indie rock. I have seen both of these bands multiple times before but they usually put on such good shows that I am always up to check them out any time they stroll through town and this time wasn’t any different as they each delivered a rousing set to a mostly heavily intoxicated crowd.

Ra Ra Riot was up first, who I have seen on several occasions, and who always puts on an incredibly solid show. They were I think better here than last time at the Loft, but that was just kind of a weird setup at that place. The crowd went pretty much beserk for these guys from song one, probably somewhat due to the intoxication, but nevertheless it contributed to a very party/fun atmosphere for the show that really carried over into Tokyo Police Club’s set. Unfortunately never caught Ra Ra Riot at SXSW, but I do recommend checking them out at some point if you get a chance, they do it up pretty well live.

Tokyo Police Club hit the stage next and the general crowd craziness continued as they blew through a lot of “Elephant Shell” in quick fashion with their trademark perfect hooks and short but sweet songs. These guys really do a great job live and they always seem to bring it pretty well. Great stage energy and everything, plus very fun and upbeat. Given the holiday and everyone partying and being wasted it was a perfect end to the night for everyone to get one last sing along/party in before heading home and passing out. I had been partying for a long time at this point but I was still belting out TPC songs with everyone else. If you haven’t seen these guys yet I really recommend seeing them. Sure the songs may be short but what they bring with each song is just indie-rock goodness that you can’t deny.
