All Points West Festival 2009 Lineup Announced

Posted March 30th, 2009 · Artists: MGMT, The National

The festival which is now entering its second year has announced its lineup for this year, taking place July 31-August 2 in Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ. Last year I believe they had Radiohead playing two (!) nights so they started big, and are continuing with that this year with an incredibly solid (yet Radiohead-less) lineup that sports some of our favorites.

The lineup right now is as follows:

Friday, July 31: Beastie Boys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, The National, Fleet Foxes, MSTRKRFT, Q-Tip, The Pharcyde, Organized Konfusion, The Knux, Ra Ra Riot, Seasick Steve, Telepathe, Shearwater, Heartless Bastards, Flying Lotus, College Humor Live, Arj Barker, Eugene Mirman and Bo Burnham.

Saturday, August 1: Tool, My Bloody Valentine, Gogol Bordello, Arctic Monkeys, Neko Case, The Ting Tings, Yelle, Crystal Castles, St. Vincent, Tokyo Police Club, The Cool Kids, Kool Keith, Cage the Elephant, Chairlift, White Rabbits, Electric Touch, The Postelles, Black Gold, College Humor Live, Tim & Eric, Judah Friedlander and Jim Jeffries.

Sunday, August 2: Coldplay, Echo & The Bunnymen, MGMT, The Black Keys, Elbow, Silversun Pickups, Mogwai, We Are Scientists, Ghostland Observatory, The Gaslight Anthem, Etienne De Crecy, Lykke Li, Akron/Family, Steel Train, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, College Humor Live, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Showalter and Todd Barry.

That is actually a pretty damn awesome lineup there.

The organizers are stating that they are making some improvements to the way things operated last year for an enhanced concert experience:

Following last year’s inaugural event, festival producers began work immediately on resolving concerns expressed by fans in attendance. They have worked closely with their partners at NJ Transit to improve light-rail service and capacity. As an added value for 2009, festival goers who choose to travel to the site utilizing the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail line can ride for free throughout the weekend with their ALL POINTS WEST festival ticket. Additionally, based on the popularity of the ferry as a mode of transportation from lower Manhattan to Liberty State Park, the frequency and size of the ferryboats will increase at a reduced price for festival attendees…. The producers have also worked with their partners at Liberty State Park to improve the fan experience in the beer gardens. This year’s areas will be larger, have shorter lines, and feature shade tents, views of the stages and food concessions…

This certainly seems to be shaping up as a great festival this summer, for more information stop on by their official website for ticket info, more info, etc.
