What a great lineup this was and it certainly delivered on every facet. Cut Copy I have seen several times before so I knew they would bring the house down already, and I kind of expected Matt & Kim to do the same but this was the first time I had seen them, and I was still really impressed by them and how they got so much party out of so few people and instruments.

Matt & Kim came out to a fairly excited crowd but anyone who scoffed at them at the beginning had to have been won over by the time they left. They are probably the most excited looking band on stage I have ever seen, and Kim has the biggest grin on her face the entire time. It is really pretty awesome to see a band that is so excited to be playing music. The setup is Matt on the keys and Kim on the drums and while it is a minimal setup, they make it work perfectly and fill up the room with sound. There is also a lot of Matt getting pumped up, then enticing the crowd to get pumped up and so on. Very high energy show, and these guys are just awesome and it was great to see them live. ‘Grand’ is certainly one of my faves so far this year and they just absolutely killed it live as well. Go see these guys if you have a chance, no doubt about it.

Well if there’s one band that could trump the high energy of Matt & Kim, it certainly would have to be the 120% dance party that Cut Copy shows always turn into. When we saw them at Granada last time it was probably the most hyped-up crowd I’ve ever seen in Dallas and this was really no different. Cut Copy has some great 80s-infused dance beats that really just get everyone going crazy, and the band plays the crowd right into their hand from the word go. I was a little shocked when they led with “Hearts on Fire”, which is usually one of their closers, and it kind of made me step back and wonder if somehow they weren’t going to be able to close it out as epic-ly as they have done before, but it didn’t really end up mattering in the end, as the final explosion of “Lights & Music” pretty much blew the roof off the place anyway.

They did actually drop a few new tunes on us, which was pretty cool, though I can’t say I really remember anything about them other than that they were still danceable (which would be every song they have btw). Once again these Aussies just killed it in every sense of the word, and got every single person in there dancing. Even people who showed up on Saturday refusing to dance would have had to at least start moving to avoid getting stomped by the dancing masses. These guys put on one of the most fun live shows out there today and really in terms of getting the crowd excited I’m not sure there’s anyone better right now. Add in Matt & Kim to the mix and you have an explosive mix of talent for an epic show. If you have a chance to catch this tour before it is done, you need to do so.
