Pitchfork Music Fest 09 First Details
Posted March 6th, 2009 · Artists: Built To Spill, Grizzly Bear, The National
Well the dates (July 17-19) were actually announced last week and it will be returning to Union Park right next to downtown Chicago, but now we have some confirmed bands on this thing. Last year’s lineup was ridiculous (see above photo) but the experience was soured a little by the cramped conditions and savage downpour on Saturday, hopefully the weather will cooperate a little more this year. List so far after the jump.
The first night will be a fan created setlist night, which is an awesome idea, so if you buy tickets before June 12th you will be able to go vote on the setlists. This is replacing the “Don’t Look Back” night from last year that featured Public Enemy and others doing classic albums in their entirety. The bands for this night are:
Friday
-Yo La Tengo
-Tortoise
-Built to Spill
-The Jesus Lizard
You’ve already won me over right there, but it gets even better. Here is the confirmed so far Saturday and Sunday players:
Saturday
-The National
-The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
-Pharoahe Monch
Sunday
-Grizzly Bear
-The Walkmen
-Vivian Girls
Um, yes, yes, and hells yeas. I will be going to this, that is all.
