Livenation is the devil

Ok well maybe I shouldn’t be surprised at all, but I thought I would express my displeasure with this since even this seemed outrageous, even for Livenation/Ticketbastard. So as I mentioned yesterday, Coldplay is going on tour this summer and having never seen them, I thought this would be a good chance to check them out out of curiosity. I’m certainly not a Coldplay mega-fan by any stretch, but Parachutes was a good album as was Rush of Blood to the Head. I don’t even have Viva La Vida, nor do I intend to purchase it anytime soon. Anyway, so I thought this would be a cool chance to see them, and so I jumped on there to try and get tickets this morning via presale.
The tickets were $97.50, $79.50 and $35 for lawn seats. At first they were only giving me lawn seats but I got back on a little later and I was able to procure 2 of the most expensive ones in my ‘shopping cart’, which were seats in Section 201. Not the closest section to the stage but the one further back, but they were like 3rd row of the second section, not bad seats at all. So I proceed to checkout where it informs me that there is a $28.33 PER TICKET convenience fee, bringing the total of each ticket well over $125 dollars, adding in tax to get to a grand total of 2 seats an entire section back from the stage for over 255 dollars. Are you fucking kidding me? So I thought to myself, maybe it is just the closer seats that have the high fees so I ran a lawn ticket through my shopping cart and the grand total of that one came out to $56, that would be the $35 it “costs” (and I use that term very loosely) plus 21 fucking dollars of convenience fees per ticket. This is insanity. Granted I haven’t bought a ticket from livenation in over a year but whatever I bought back then surely did not have a convenience fee that rivaled the cost of a lawn seat itself. Let’s compare shall we:
Lawn Seat = $35
Convenience Fee = $28.33
Fucking ridiculous. Anyway, long story short, have fun at the Coldplay concert because I will not be there.
